Welda since 1968

Welda started as a family business in a terraced house in Sint-Amandsberg (Ghent) with the sale and production of welding electrodes. The warehouse was located in the basement and from here the whole of Belgium was supplied.

1973-1987

In 1973 the Welda warehouse moves to Antwerpsesteenweg 949 in Oostakker-Ghent. After which a retail space was built in 1979 for the expansion, storage and sale of welding equipment.

1987-1995

Due to the strong growth, it was decided to enlarge the retail space and also to start distributing tools.

To optimize operation, the warehouse was enlarged and at the same time connected to the showroom.

1995-2001

An additional expansion of the warehouse is soon in order.

At the same time, Welda starts selling the first computer-controlled CNC metalworking machines, which will be distributed later in 2008 under the company name Welda Machinery.

2001-2011

In 2001, Welda doubled the built-up business area to 5200m².

There was a well-equipped machine showroom and the warehouse was optimized with extra storage space at height and 2 automatic storage cabinets.

2011-2014

The access to the Welda showroom is undergoing a reorientation along with the reconstruction of a larger car park for customers.

2017

In 2017 Welda Machinery will get its own identity with a completely new and separate experience center of 1000m². The customer has the opportunity to view the machines and demonstrations of all kinds of metalworking machines can be performed. Machine training can also be provided at the request of the customer.

2018-2019

In 2018, Welda invested in a training center due to the continuous demand from the industry for better training opportunities for technically trained personnel. This new training center was named “Welda Academy” at the end of September 2018 and was immediately put into operation.

The welding courses are conducted in collaboration with the VCL/CPS – Perfection Center for Welders.

Welda terrain

After all these changes over the years, Welda now consists of several buildings. Our main building consists of our retail space and our warehouse.

Our second building is split into 2 parts:

Welda Machinery: This is our showroom for larger metalworking machines. Here we also give free demonstrations of our machines. Contact us if you would like a demonstration.
Welda Academy: This is our training center where we provide training together with the VCL/CPS – Perfection Center for Welders.

Accessibility

Welda is easy to reach via the R4 (exit Oostakker).

We have a spacious parking lot where you will certainly find space to park close to our buildings.
